What's in the box?

The box comes complete with instructions, body shell, parts, motor, speed control, damper oil, other oils, wheels & tires and tools.  Colourful stickers are also provided and a separate sheet is supplied with the tune up parts you can buy.

The instructions

The instructions are fairly good and include black and white photos.  A guide to gear ratios and setting the car up is also included.

The chassis:

Avoid the older kits that include mechanical speed control, no slipper clutch and ball race bearings.  The chassis is very light and is made of a composite.  The chassis is very strong and built for fast off road running.  The only thing that spoils the Stampede is the driveline, I suggest getting all the hop-ups for the driveline including:

  • Ball race bearings

  • Slipper clutch

  • Delrin gears

  • Metal output yokes

  • Ball differential

The body:

The body is very tough and durable but if you do have a roll or two bits start to fall off!

Painting

I sprayed the inside with tamiya PS34 red.   No masking tape for the windows is provided.  But now most stampedes come ready painted.

How well does it go then?

This is a very fast monster truck.  In fact its a little too fast.  I suggest changing the gear ratio too get more acceleration and power.  Cornering is also good because of the oil filled suspension soaks up any bumps.

Where can I buy this car?
